This is the blossoms or flowers from the Easter Lily Cactus otherwise known as Echinopsis Oxygona. The cactus is almost barrel like with lots of spiney thorns and the flowers come from a shoot the comes from the ribs and it grows out away from the cactus and forms a bud. The blossom is so pretty that it's hard to believe such a cactus could make such a beautiful flower. Each petal of the flower is pointed at the tips and almost takes on the appearance of a feather. I just couldn't resist painting this stunning flower.

Thank you Margaret. As you must know, artists are always striving to paint that "perfect" painting. Over a life time of trying to achieve that goal, an artist is lucky to get one or two. I must admit I consider myself lucky in that I have that with this painting. I have been able to achieve 5 or 6 paintings only in the past 8 years to achieve perfection, even though I've been painting for over 40 years.
