This is an night blooming cactus flower done in acrylic on a gallery wrapped canvas. The center of the flower has heavy texture done with thick dots of paint.
Carol has been a professional artist for over fifty years, mastering calligraphy, watercolors and now acrylics. She studied at the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, and took many private classes but considers herself to be a self taught artist. Using lots of detail, bright and bold colors and sometimes a touch of humor, has won her many awards. She continues to win awards today. She has been published and has a painting in the Postal Museum of the Smithsonian. Carol is a realist so she paints what she sees in her particular style. She loves nature and enjoys painting flowers, landscapes and some abstracts. She applies a lot of layering in her paintings no matter the subject matter. Thank you Margaret! I love how it came out. I entered it in a competition but it didn't make it. I think all the entries were very disappointing in design. I love this painting and I plan to enter it in more competitions this year. You can't see the Texture in the stemens...but it is awesome!
